The number three lane on eastbound Katella Avenue and the sidewalk on the south side of Katella Avenue will be closed beginning Monday, July 24 through Monday, August 7 to accommodate installation of ADA ramps and approaches to provide ADA access to the new Anaheim Convention Center expansion. Pedestrians should follow directional signage for alternate routes. The closure will not impact vehicular access to the Convention Center, surrounding hotels and businesses, or Car Park 1. The temporary closure is necessary to ensure safety around the site for vehicles, pedestrians, visitors, and workers.

Signage at the mid-block crosswalk at Katella/Convention Way will direct pedestrians to crosswalks at West Street or Harbor Boulevard. Eastbound Convention Center visitors may access facilities and area hotels through the Arena Plaza. On the west side of the Convention Center, the Hotel Way sidewalk will remain open.

About the Expansion
Phase One of the Anaheim Convention Center expansion, adding 600 parking spaces, was completed in Fall 2016. Crews recently completed the large glass curtain wall on the west side of the building, facing the iconic Arena. The remainder of the expansion project will open in September 2017. When complete, ACC North will include 200,000 square feet of flexible exhibit and meeting space as well as the second phase of the parking garage, adding 750 parking spaces for a total of 1,350 spaces.

In the heart of the Anaheim Resort District, the Anaheim Convention Center is an important economic enterprise that the City of Anaheim relies upon to support services for residents, businesses, and visitors. The Anaheim Resort District provides half of the City’s general fund revenue, which in turn provides for vital services such as public safety, parks, libraries and neighborhood improvements. The expansion is projected to generate an additional $9 million in annual revenue for the City and its residents. The project is creating about 1,860 construction jobs. When complete, the expansion will support more than 2,000 new jobs throughout Anaheim.
